Guide Review - WriteRight Universal Screen Protector Review
I'm not sure I'd typically consider a product like WriteRight's Universal Screen Protector because I like customized cases for my phones and electronics, but recently I gave it a try. If you’re like me, you travel with a bunch of different electronic devices: phones, cameras, iPods, GPS, and more. Aside from the multiple power cords, the thing they all have in common is that they all have a screen. A screen that’s very likely to get scratched, nicked or damaged when it jangles around in my pocket or computer bag. That's why screen protectors are so important.
In the past, I’ve used different types of customized screen protectors and skins, for phones and cameras. They generally work great and do a fabulous job of protecting the device. But they’re not cheap (usually around $25 or $30 each). So this time, I decided to try a cheaper route. I went for an inexpensive, universal screen protector.
Fellowes WriteRight Universal Screen Protectors do the job. A single package for around $12 (or cheaper) included 5 sheets of high-strength sticky plastic screen protectors that affix to your device’s screen. These go on dry, meaning that it’s much harder to “iron out” any air bubbles that get trapped. You can work them out as well as possible with a small squeegee that’s included, and then just live with the rest. They generally don’t interfere too much with use.
From my experience, the product tested out fine. My phone looked good with the screen protector on, and it definitely provided some nice protection for the screen. However, after a little while, I did see some minor scratches on the screen protector (better than on the screen!), so these may not hold up over the long term as well as high end products can.
Overall, a universal screen protector may be a good option for someone who has a number of devices they want to protect, or only needs screen protection for a short period of time.
