The Bottom Line

The Hyatt Regency Houston is in the middle of downtown Houston, near the convention center and the Theater District. The hotel is also connected to a wide variety of shops, restaurants, and other buildings via the city's underground tunnel system. Overall, the hotel was what you'd expect: a solid, large business hotel. Good service, decent (but not overwhelming) rooms, and a good lobby bar.

Guide Review - Review of Hyatt Regency, Houston, Texas

The Hyatt Regency in Houston Texas a prototypical business hotel (in a good way). It's a large property with close to 1,000 rooms, all situated around a the central lobby and lobby bar. In addition to the lobby bar (which was hopping when I was there) there’s a full service restaurant and a snack/coffee shop. The hotel was renovated relatively recently and was in good shape.

The hotel is convenient to the convention center, as well as other downtown areas. There's also a METRO Light Rail stop close by.

The upper floor room I stayed in was nice—upscale furnishings, decent view out of the window, great curtains, in-room safe, clean and modern bathroom, and nice bed. Overall, the room wasn’t huge, but it was certainly a reasonable size and very comfortable. The desk area was okay, but the chair was a bit low for comfortable work. The room lighting was also a bit dimmer than I prefer. Air conditioning seemed to work fine.
