Company Overview:

American Airlines, headquartered in Ft. Worth, Texas, flies more passengers worldwide than any other airline. It offers a frequent flier program, AAdvantage, and is part of the OneWorld Alliance.

Destinations:

Currently flying to 260 cities worldwide, American has five U.S. hubs and several focus cities.

Baggage Policies:

Domestic coach passengers will be charged $15 each way for the first checked bag and $25 each way for the second checked bag. Weight restrictions apply, as well.

Exceptions to this policy include customers who purchase First or Business Class tickets, AAdvantage Executive Platinum®, AAdvantage Platinum® and AAdvantage Gold® members.

Rewards Program:

The largest, and longest running travel rewards program, AAdvantage is a free program that awards miles for each ticket purchased on American, AmericanConnection, American Eagle, or any one of the 21+ airline partners (including those in the OneWorld Alliance).

Miles can be redeemed for travel on any of those same carriers. Miles earned are based on the length of the journey as well as the class of ticket purchased. Hotel partner stays and select car rentals earn AAdvantage points, as well.

Elite Status:

AAdvantage members can fly their way to elite status, which includes a host of benefits, including flight upgrades, priority check-in, boarding and seating, and Admiral’s Club membership. Levels of status include Gold, Platinum and Executive Platinum.
