Cancellations Happen

Friday May 29, 2009
This can be a tough time of year to travel. Airports are full of families heading on vacations and students on their way home from college (with everything they own in tow), making security and check-in lines long and loud. Add tropical storms and hurricanes to the mix, and you have a recipe for delays and cancellations. Don't wait for the airline to re-book you. The minute you hear the word "cancellation", get on the phone with customer service while you wait in line for a ticketing agent. The longer you wait, the fewer your options will be - keep these airline reservation numbers handy, and get yourself on the next available flight faster. Safe travels!

If you want to save yourself sitting on the phone trying to reach an agent to find out about the next flight options AND you have an iPhone, you might want to invest in this app called FlightShaker. With a slight shake of your iPhone, the app pulls in information for all the upcoming flights at the airports nearest your current location, around the world. It’s a handy little tool to have when the call center is getting slammed with calls, and you want to know your options before you reach the gate agent.
