Can You Catch Swine Flu on the Plane?
Tuesday May 5, 2009
I know of companies that are giving all traveling employees a course of antiviral drugs to store, just in case there becomes a shortage. I've had paranoid relatives caution me against leaving my house (never mind the country), and I've noticed a lot more people talking about washing their hands (which makes me wonder just how dirty some of us were before this outbreak). It's definitely enough to make me question whether hopping aboard enclosed spaces day after day is a good idea. Sadly, my bosses are saying to forge ahead with planned meetings, as the CDC and World Health Organizations are currently only cautioning against unnecessary travel to Mexico. Flying may be safe, but I did sit as far away from my seatmate on yesterday's flights, and I've got a hefty stash of antibacterial hand wash in my laptop case. My mom would be proud.
