Cheap Frills.
Sunday September 7, 2008
Last week was a hectic travel week. Three cities on four different airlines - with the small inconvenience of hurricane Gustav thrown in for good measure - made for yet another exciting week on the road. Flying US Airways, Continental, Delta and Southwest in the span of a few days did give me an opportunity to compare the airlines, however, and I arrived home with new-found appreciation for the so-called budget carrier. From on-time departures and arrivals, to a free drink and two snacks, the flights on Southwest were head and shoulders above the others, where even water cost me $2 on some flights. Sure, the boarding thing is a little weird (the “Business Select” booking option does make the check-in and boarding process much less of a headache), but the services and treatment (not to mention the on-schedule flights) I found with Southwest nearly rivaled First Class on other airlines. No frills, indeed!
Have any of you been flying Southwest for business? Sound off on how the flights have compared for you by posting a comment below. Safe travels!
